    If you’re not holidaying abroad this year, like a lot of us. You may be interested in family photography in the UK. This doesn’t mean that you won’t get stunning images that look like you’re sunning yourself in the South of France. The UK has so much to offer and I am really lucky to call Cornwall my home. 

    I love when you come on holiday here and incorporate a photoshoot to remember your special holiday. I have some families who have started to make an annual tradition of it and it’s wonderful to watch them grow. A photoshoot on your holidays also means you often come to the shoot so relaxed and in the moment.

    I adored this session with the beautiful Ballance family. In this shoot they are so present and I could feel them put their whole trust in me. They travelled and met me at my favourite location, Holywell Bay. I just knew that it would suit them down to the ground. We chatted and laughed and I know that I wasn’t the only one to enjoy it. They had such a good time.

    The light in the images does it for me here, it really highlights this beautiful, glowing family. Playing and loving each other in the golden hours. What more could you ask for on holiday. Having those magical holiday evenings captured is really so special.

    Ah September sessions, I love those first signs of autumn. The subtly changing colours and the bite in the air. Signs of cosy blanketed evenings and early Sunsets. Perfect for getting in a photoshoot before bedtime! 

    This shoot with Blanche, Dean and Otto was beyond magical. As far as a family photographer Devon based goes, this was a true dream. What more could I need than a sunset on Dartmoor, stunning light, wild ponies and a beautiful family?! 

    I find it incredible by the way that Ponies have lived on Dartmoor since prehistoric times. In spite of this they actually have owners and are rounded up once a year. A little local fact for you.

    Continuing your story

    This was the second time that I’ve shot Blanche and Otto, as I photographed Otto as a baby during one of my first sessions after I moved back to Cornwall. So lovely to look back on and two years on and It gave me all the feels to see how much he’d grown. Times flies and I know that Blanche is so glad to have these photographs to serve as special memories.

    Recording your family laughing and loving in the moment is something I am passionate about. It makes my heart flutter capturing those candid interactions and moments that make up your family’s stories. I especially love when you share your creative vision with me for your photographs.

    Welcoming Raffy

    Outdoor Newborn Photography at Stoke beach, Noss Mayo, Devon.

    I first met Jasmine and Pete in February 2018 after they had welcomed their first baby Tigerlilly. Their session was one of my first newborn sessions after moving to Cornwall. It was truly a beautiful experience and their photos are still some of my favourites now. I loved it so much because we all just had a lovely time together. I still remember driving home feeling so exited about the moments we captured together.

    Fast forward to summer 2019, and the beautiful Pilar family are now a family of four! So, of course, it was time for a newborn shoot, and this time we headed down to one of their favourite beaches in (Stoke Beach) Noss Mayo, on the Devon coast, to celebrate the arrival of baby Raffy. It was such a joy to capture this beautiful family again and to be part of their lives as they grow and change. It’s times like these. I’m really grateful that I get to do what I do.

    Family of four plus three Bulldogs? Sure! The gorgeous Messenger family below. These guys returned clients; I can’t believe it’s been so long since they welcomed their second daughter, and I photographed her as a newborn. Time really does fly. It’s always such an honour to be asked to document a family again.

    This time we chose a beautiful secluded spot dotted with wildflowers. The session was everything and more. Nothing makes me happier love, adventure, long hair, white dresses and some gorgeous light, and that’s exactly what we got.

    Motherhood Moments

    Dartmoor Photographer – Motherhood Photography Session.

    Helen met me up on the moors of Dartmoor at sunset to capture some beautiful happy, love-filled moments with her two babies. It was an extra special motherhood session, and I adore the images so much as did she. (Scroll to read her lovely review!)

    It means so much to be able to capture the little moments that mean the most to you. Time is fleeting; We often want to hold onto these moments of motherhood forever, but we just can’t. I’m truly honoured that I can bottle up some of this magic time for you in the form of photographs that you can hold onto forever.

    “I can’t stress enough what an amazing session we had with Mel; it was to die for! I definitely felt nervous about being in front of the lens and praying that both kiddies would behave themselves, yet I had absolutely nothing to worry about; Mel managed to capture the beauty among the chaos. As a mother herself, I think she could understand how it can feel to have one newborn baby sicking up milk mid-shoot whilst the older one is running wild on the moors. Yet, Mel remained professional, caring & friendly at all times and used this time to capture my daughter running wild and free, turning it into a game that my daughter LOVED. These are some of my favourite photos because they show her true personality! My daughter still sits and wants to go through the images & also the preview video (a lovely touch, by the way) on repeat! ~ It still makes me emotional to watch!!
    It was super relaxed, a beautiful mix of authentic lifestyle imagery, complimented with lightly posed shots. But I know deep down, and Mel does too, that it’s all the real-life, in-between, cuddle & laughing shots that have truly tug at the heartstrings, and I still think they will come in years to come. I can’t recommend Mel enough! Both beautiful imagery and just a generally lovely lady! I made a friend in the session too!”- Helen.
