Preparing for your
IN-HOME SESSION.
Set the scene, light your favourite scented candle, cuddle up in a cosy blanket with a cup of something warm, put your favourite playlist on to set the mood, let’s revel in the best bits of being at home, your sanctuary, embracing the laid-back Sunday morning vibes.
During every session, I take the lead from the youngest child. You might choose to base your session around an activity like baking or painting, or you may simply wish to capture the simple beauty of your everyday moments; let’s make it an authentic reflection of you.
I aim to capture childhood in its entirety, embracing the laughter, tears, tantrums, and joy that encapsulate the beauty of those younger years. Your children will be our guide. If there’s a toddler in the home, they set the tone for the session. Tiny babies, older children, and adults usually adapt more easily to the unfolding moments.

Full tummy & a cosy home.
This advice is intended for babies; however, on reflection, I think the rules apply to everyone; no one wants to be hangry during their session. If you can, try to feed your baby (and yourselves) before I arrive so they are nice and settled for the session. A warm morning bath can help relax the baby’s tummy if wind has been an issue. However, if you want feeding and bath time captured, wait until I arrive.
Your baby will usually be dressed in lighter layers than usual (sometimes down to their nappy) and might have more bare skin, so it’s helpful to pop your heating a little higher just before I arrive so the house is extra cosy.
Relax and soak in the moments.
Relax; your house doesn’t need to be spotless for your session. I adore a lived-in feel, evoking a sense of comfort, ease and authenticity—a true reflection of you. Typically, I shoot in the main bedroom, where neutral bed linen and clutter-free bedside tables can help set the scene. Any distracting items can be adjusted on the day, so there’s no need to worry.
My focus is on capturing the essence of you and your family, not on the perfection of your home. I can’t wait to be welcomed into your space.

Natural moments in all their beauty and chaos.
During newborn sessions, if your baby is settled and sleepy, I’ll focus on photographing them alone, capturing all those precious details – from their curled fists to their perfect eyelashes, chubby cheeks, and soft skin. Typically, I use your bed or their crib for these shots. We’ll also capture moments of you all together.
There’s no awkward posing; just authentic moments of your family being yourselves. Every family member, including pets, is warmly welcomed.
When I arrive, feel free to let me know if there are any special items or areas of your home you’d like to incorporate into your session.
Choosing what to wear.
Wear what you typically feel most comfortable in at home.
Colours
I usually suggest sticking to neutrals, but remember that neutrals come in various shades: think rust instead of bright red, olive green instead of neon, and peach instead of hot pink. The goal is not to distract too much from your connection; bright colours can sometimes do that.
Distractions
It’s best to avoid logos, bold prints and patterns, consider removing smartwatches and check your wrists for hair ties, as these can divert attention away from the subject of the photo: you.

Texture
light, flowy tops or dresses, cosy knits, and subtle textures like linen, gauze, or muslin as these photograph beautifully. Guys, If you choose to wear a shirt, keep it relaxed and casual since we’re just hanging out at home.
Babies
For your baby, simplicity and neutrality are key. After all, they are the focus, not their outfit. A snug-fitting babygrow or vest is all that’s needed, and if you have a footless option, show off those little toes even better!
